Folk Music Canada Announces the Second Edition of FolkNorth

Folk Music Canada is proud to present the second edition of FolkNorth; an export-focused showcase and industry event that will take place in Toronto from December 1-4, 2017.

Anchored in the goal of expanding market opportunities for the Canadian folk industry and spotlighting the strength of Canadian folk talent on a world stage, FolkNorth will shine the spotlight on some of Canada’s brightest folk acts, along with a few international ones. It will also bring together export delegates from the United States, the United Kingdom, and many more key industry delegates from Canada. Check out confirmed delegates HERE.

The four-day event will be held at the Sheraton Centre Hotel, Toronto, as well as showcases taking place Friday and Saturday nights at The Supermarket and Sunday night at Adelaide Hall, both venues in Toronto. Designed to be small in scope, the weekend focuses on offering high-level opportunities to established Canadian artists, agents, managers, music supervisors and publicists, as well as professional development and networking opportunities for the Canadian folk presenting community.

“The goal of FolkNorth is to get more Canadian folk musicians out into the international market. There is such a wealth of talent in our country and we want to share that. We also want to create an event that is intimate and provides quality networking opportunities where both artists and delegates can forge lasting relationships,” says Shoshona Kish, President of Folk Music Canada.
